WHY TEAK
WHY CHOOSE TEAK FOR A BADMINTON COURT
Teak wooden badminton court flooring suits indoor halls where the look of the space matters as much as the game. It needs a dry, covered hall; for open sheds we recommend PU sports flooring or PP interlocking tiles.
A warm, natural finish
Teak brings golden-brown tones and a natural grain, so no two boards look alike. In a well-lit hall it gives the courts a premium, finished look.
Comfortable underfoot
The boards are laid over cushioning pads and battens, not straight onto concrete, so the floor has more give than a bare slab.
A floor you can renew
When the surface shows wear, a teak floor can be sanded and re-lacquered instead of being replaced.
Lines for every court
Badminton lines are marked once the floor is finished, and multipurpose halls can carry lines for other indoor sports too.

TEAK COURT FLOORING FOR SCHOOLS, ACADEMIES AND CLUBS
We work with the people who plan, build and run indoor badminton halls. Here is how we help each of them.
Schools
A teak hall gives students a proper indoor court for PE periods, inter-house matches and coaching, in a space that also looks good for assemblies and events.
Colleges and universities
Campus sports blocks often host tournaments, trials and functions. We plan the number of courts, run-offs and line marking around how the hall will be booked.
Badminton academies
Academies run long coaching days. We plan court spacing, lighting positions and the floor build-up together, and can mark several courts in one hall.
Sports clubs
For member courts we focus on a finish that looks premium, cleans easily and can be sanded and re-lacquered when it shows wear.
Architects and designers
Share your drawings early. We advise on floor build-up height, door thresholds, ventilation and moisture protection so the timber floor fits the design.
Builders and contractors
We coordinate with your site team on slab level, moisture barrier and the handover sequence, so flooring starts on a ready, dry slab.
Sports facility owners
Whether it is one court or a multi-court hall, we can handle the floor alone or the complete project: shed, flooring, lighting, posts and nets.
HOW WE INSTALL IT
TEAK COURT INSTALLATION PROCESS

Slab and moisture check
Timber needs a level, dry slab and a moisture barrier.

Pads, battens and sub-floor are set out and levelled.
- 03
Boards
Boards are acclimatised, then laid and fixed.
- 04

The floor is sanded, lacquered and lined for the sports.
CARE
LOOKING AFTER A TEAK FLOOR
- Keep the hall dry; water and standing moisture damage timber.
- Dust-mop daily and use only cleaners suited to lacquered wood.
- Non-marking sports footwear only.
- Plan periodic re-lacquering as wear shows.

FAQ
TEAK COURT FLOORING FAQS
Is teak wooden flooring good for badminton courts?
Yes, for dry, covered halls. Laid over cushioning pads and battens, a teak floor gives an even playing surface with more give than bare concrete, and a warm natural finish. It is not suitable for open or damp spaces.
Can teak flooring be used in an open shed or outdoors?
No. Timber needs a dry, covered hall with protection from rain and standing water. For open or semi-open courts we recommend PU, acrylic or PP interlocking tile flooring instead.
Can a teak court be laid over an existing floor?
Often, yes. Several of the courts in our gallery were laid over an existing stone or concrete floor. We first check that the base is level and dry, then add a moisture barrier and the sub-floor.
Do you mark the badminton court lines?
Yes. Court lines are marked after the floor is sanded and finished. You can see courts being marked out, and finished lines, in the gallery above.
How do I look after a teak sports floor?
Keep the hall dry, dust-mop daily, clean only with products suited to lacquered wood and allow non-marking sports shoes only. Plan periodic re-lacquering as the surface shows wear.
Teak, maple or hevea: which wood should I choose?
It depends on your budget, the look you want and how the hall will be used. We can compare teak with maple and hevea wood flooring for your hall when you send us its size and use.
How much does teak wooden badminton court flooring cost?
The cost depends on the floor area, the sub-floor system, the finish and the site condition. Send us your hall size and photos and we will prepare a quote.
Do you install teak courts outside Hyderabad?
Kelysports is based in Hyderabad and takes on projects across Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and pan India. Tell us your location when you enquire.
